House Pictures

January 21st, 2009

Just starting to post a few house pictures as things become finalized room by room.  Here’s a picture of my recently finished office.  This is a stitched photograph, so things may not look like they’re lining up correctly.

And on the with the 2009 year.  I, personally, have a lot of dreams and wishes for this new year.  Many of them hopefully will come true.

Well, to begin…

One of the biggest dreams of mine is to start one of my own businesses.  Primarily I’d like to focus on the web-design/backend programming realm.  Why, you ask, would I want to do this when I come home from acting as a Software/System Engineer at Progeny?  Because I love this stuff.  The new office is set up perfectly to compliment my every computer need.  My computers are powerful and damnit, they need to be put to good use.

Recently I was asked to start developing a website for a up and coming company.  So far, so good.  I think I’m going to use the time I’m spending for it as a spring board into further web design contracts down the line…we’ll see.  However, I’m pretty damn sure that that’s the route I’d like to take.

With all things weddings, Renee has been hard at work crafting a wedding invitation.  Let me tell you, this woman has got talent.  She has produced an awesome wedding invitation that could does rival the professional ones you find out in the wedding supply markets.  I’m very proud of her.  We also recently had a tasting at Bella Sera by Greco’s.  It was, and this is an understatement, very good!  For anyone who’s gonna have a wedding in/around Pittsburgh…this is the place I’d suggest you go!

We’re 98% of the way moved into the house.  No comes the part of tweaking and making everything just right before we mark ourselves completely moved in.  The Internet and Cable have finally (yes, after a month of none) become active.  The geek (me) is very happy.  I’m also working hard to set up some efficient systems for the administration of things in the house (bills, etc.).  So far Renee and I have come up with a pretty good system for sorting out the bills and getting things paid.  I can’t wait until our bills become less!

Well that’s all.  I just thought an update was in order.  Hadn’t blogged for a while.

In a feat that until recently was thought impossible, a team of scientists have captured the first ever visible-light image of a planet orbiting another star.

I swear that in my generation we’re gonna discover even more cool stuff in the universe!

Comcast’s Third Attempt

January 11th, 2009

So I had to come up to Pittsburgh this weekend to take care of some wedding stuff (namely a tasting) and to spend some awesome time with family.  Before leaving, though, I still didn’t have Comcast to my house to install this new connection.

Fortunately though I was put in touch with a great customer care representative who took the time to escalate this issue whereever possible.  Because of her work I finally received a call from Comcast as they were finally sitting outside of my house.  After I got off the phone I felt as though some headway was being made about getting everything connected up.

Renee and I are heading back today to the house.  I’m really hoping that I find the connection has been made.  Time shall tell.
